Warm Springs Hikes Yard Sale Fine
The Warm Springs City Council voted June 8 to hike the city’s fine for not paying the required permit fee for having a yard sale in the city.
The Warm Springs City Council voted June 8 to hike the city’s fine for not paying the required permit fee for having a yard sale in the city.
Currently, the permit charge for a yard sale in Warm Springs is $20, and the fine for not acquiring a permit is $15. Mayor Robyn Pynenburg noted that it was easier and cheaper to just pay the fine for not having the permit, and recommended hiking the fine to $25. Council member Vicki Lucas said it should be higher, to really deter people from not acquiring the permit. The Council voted to raise the fine for not having a yard sale permit to $30.
In other business, the Warm Springs City Council:
• Approved a total of $6,245.50 in invoices from J & T Environmental for work done on the city’s water system;
• Approved an invoice of $7,520 from EIC, Inc., for replacement of an aerator motor at the city’s waste water treatment plant;
• Approved an invoice from Pavement Repair Services for asphalt repair at eight locations, for $4,500;
• Tabled a bid from Pavement Repair Services for $9,350 for sidewalk repair in front of the Police Department, until another bid can be acquired;
• Tabled to the next work session a discussion regarding volunteer repairs to the city gazebo; and
• Approved two event permit applications from Xtreme Rider for a Waypoint Ranch fundraiser on June 13 and a Combat State Rally on August 14 and 15.
The next regular meeting of the Warm Springs City Council will be Monday, July 13, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
