This year’s ballot has an open governor’s race, every seat in the Georgia House and Senate, one U.S. Senate seat, and all 14 U.S. House seats.

This means voter turnout in Georgia will be one of the biggest factors in determining some of the most important political decisions in years to come. This also means voters need to know how to register, and where to vote long before the Nov. 3 election.

Here’s how to locate your polling place, and what you will need when you get there.

Key dates before Nov. 3 Election Day

Aug. 17-Oct. 23: First day and last day to request an absentee ballot from your county’s election office to vote by mail.

Oct. 5: Last day to register to vote.

Oct. 13-30: First day and last day to vote in person during the early/advance period.

Before you can cast your ballot, ensure that  you’re registered to vote. Voters  can check registration status on the Georgia Secretary of State’s My Voter Page or call 404-656-2881.
