Shots fired at the Galleria

Centerville and Warner Robins police combined forces on Friday afternoon to take into custody the suspects involved in a shooting that happened in the mall parking lot on the south end of Belk.

According to Centerville Police Chief Chuck Hadden, an altercation began inside the mall that pitted five to six individuals against one individual. Mall security broke up the confrontation and escorted those involved out of the mall, leaving them in the mall parking lot. At some point, the disturbance between the parties began again and resulted in gunfire; at which time, police were called.

The suspects got into a vehicle and fled the mall, resulting in a BOLO (be on the lookout) call from Centerville police. Warner Robins Assistant Police Chief Chris Rooks confirmed it was then that Warner Robins Police became involved, and when one of their officers spotted the vehicle, he pulled it over in the parking lot of Popeye’s on Watson Blvd.

Six suspects from the car were taken into custody. According to Hadden, there was also a child in the vehicle who was released to police custody for safeguarding. Hadden said that seven gun shell casings were found in the mall lot and retrieved for evidence. Rooks mentioned that there may have been several guns found in the car and at least one bullet hole found on the body of the vehicle. No injuries were reported, and the names and charges of those involved are pending the completion of police interrogation.
