Audi plant coming; expected to create 4,500 jobs
A $4.2 billion investment will see an Audi manufacturing plant come to the Middle Georgia area.
A major car manufacturing plant is coming.
There may be some confusion as to the actual location, but it is definitely coming.
President Donald Trump, Vito Paladino and Rick Jackson, during a rally Saturday in Perry for Jackson and Mike Collins, all said it was coming to Macon. However, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, citing the Bloomberg News and “officials familiar with the negotiation”, – Reuters and Yahoo Finance is reporting the same – it is actually going to be located in Peach County, about five miles west of I-75 on the north side of Ga. 96. That puts it on the eastern outskirts of Peach County, just “outside” of Macon’s borders. Although Georgia.gov, with it expected to take up 1,500 acres according to Yahoo Finance, has it on not just Peach and Bibb, but also in Houston County. Georgia.gov also has it creating approximately 4,500 jobs with an expected rollout of the first cars in early 2030.
Jackson called it the biggest economic deal in history. Trump said it was a $4.2 billion investment with construction to begin on the plant next month. He also said it would produce 200,000 cars a year.
Paladino is Chairman, CEO and President of Audi North America. He said it would be for their “biggest and most premium SUVs and produce them here.”
“This is a long-term investment because we believe in the American market,” he added.
Trump also alluded to it … with Hyundai operating a sprawling electric vehicle factory near Savannah, Kia operating a plant in LaGrange, EV startup Rivian planning a factory an hour east of Atlanta … adding to Georgia’s credentials as a hub for automotive manufacturing in the South.
