“It’s a community hangout spot to bring everybody together,” said Pratham Patel, 24, a 2019 Houston County High School graduate and a 2023 Georgia Tech graduate who traded computer science for a craft beer business. He and his father, Rahul Patel, are behind the franchise, the first The Brass Tap in Middle Georgia.

“We want to celebrate a culture of hospitality, and we want to uphold that standard that we have set for our guests to feel a different type of experience and just chill back, relax and enjoy,” Pratham Patel said.

For Patel, going into business with his dad means he’ll always receive a lot of support and that his dad will always be there for him.

As for the elder Patel, he sees the venture as his son going into business for himself. He’s providing financial support and helping out where needed, but his son calls the shots.

“At 24 years, he is going into business,” the elder Patel said. “I am very happy, and I hope he’s going to be successful.”

The fast-casual modern restaurant and bar can seat about 120 people at high tables and chairs, banquettes, and 15 high seats at an L-shaped bar.

Behind one side of the bar, two large windows open out into a covered patio area that Pratham Patel expects to enclose with furniture, lights and air conditioning.

Patel also plans to add to the immersive experience with events such as trivia nights, watch parties, karaoke, DJ nights, beer and wine tasting, and sip and paint classes.

The Brass Tap features three menus: One 11-by-17 inch, two-sided paper menu that showcases draft beer offerings, including from local breweries such as Macon’s Fall Line Brewing Co., bottled and canned beers, and liquor and wine offerings.

A 6.5-by-11 inch, four-paged encased menu offers drinks and their ingredients for handmade cocktails and margaritas, lists white and red wines by the glass and bottle, offers house wines and sangria, describes mocktails and cocktails, and includes energy drinks, soft drinks and shots.

Craft beers are available in flights for sampling, as are margaritas. Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with drink and food specials. The late night happy hour is from 9 p.m. to closing.

An 11-by-17 inch, two-sided laminated food menu features a wide variety of shareables such as potstickers, boom boom shrimp, cheese curds, crispy brussel sprouts and pretzels.

The menu also features traditional and boneless chicken wings with various sauces and dry rubs, nachos, dips and chips, tacos, salads, and sides such as roasted buffalo cauliflower and tater tots.

“TBT favorites” include chicken tenders, fish and chips, and a shrimp platter. Premium Angus-blend burgers, chicken sandwiches and pizzas round out the menu. Worth noting: “Impossible” plant-based tacos, nachos and a burger are available.

The menu also includes $10 lunch deals from opening until 2 p.m. Don’t forget desserts: a bourbon-maple brown butter cake with vanilla ice cream or a chocolate chip lava cookie and ice cream.
