PERRY — For those in the mood to solve a murder, the Muse Theatre, located at 806 Commerce St., is hosting a murder mystery dinner April 20 with the theme “Midnight at the Masquerade.”

“It is pretty much an interactive game of Clue,” Events Coordinator for the Muse Theatre Brittany Engle said.

Engle said  guests can participate in a theater event where one of the actors will die in a comedic way. Guests will then take turns looking for clues to solve the crime.

Usually, the Muse Theatre has local actors and actresses for their murder mystery dinners. For this event, however, the theater is getting a murder mystery group from Atlanta. This particular group was featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. If this dinner is a success, Engle hopes to have them back for another event in the summer.

The Muse Theatre opened its doors in 2002 and typically hosts wedding events, private parties and business events.

Hosting the dinner theater events are a good way for more of the public to enjoy what the Muse Theatre has to offer.

“We try to open the venue to the public as well and not just have private events,” she said. “This is an opportunity for us to do that.”

The murder mystery dinners have been well received by the public.

“For our murder mystery dinners, we have sold out for every event that we’ve had,” she said. “We typically sell 150 tickets and we’ve always sold out.”

This dinner is currently not sold out; however, the gold circle seating is sold out, which is like a VIP.

“With the VIP seats, you will be closer to the stage of the interaction and also have the opportunity to get exclusive clues to the crime as well as more interaction with the actors,” she said.

VIP or not, every guest will still be a part of the experience.

The theater has hired a local caterer, Erical Hill, of Heaven on Earth Catering.

“We are excited to have her because we never used her in the past,” she said.

According to Engle, the dinner offered will consist of fish or chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley.

Engle encourages guests to come dressed in Midnight at the Masquerade theme. However, dress code is optional.

“Although it’s optional for our guests to wear Venetian masks and evening attire, we would really think that it would add to the excitement of the event,” she said.

Doors open at 5 p.m with the show starting at 6 p.m.
