Governor Brian Kemp attends last opening ceremony for Georgia National Fair
The Georgia National Fair held its annual Opening Ceremony to kick off the season at Reaves Arena on Thursday, Oct.8.

PERRY — The Georgia National Fair held its annual Opening Ceremony on Thursday, Oct. 8 to kick off the fair season.
The ceremony is a tradition that brings together families, livestock exhibitors and the community. The fair also recognized the champions of the 2025 Livestock Show which honored youth in agriculture.
Local leaders attended the ceremony, including Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp. This would be their last time attending the opening ceremony as Governor and First Lady. Kemp first took office in 2019 then was reelected in 2022.
Kemp said the fair is one of his favorite events of the year. Their children grew up showing sheep there, which makes it an extra special place for them.
“We’ve enjoyed being able to come back. It’s just one of the most wholesome, fun places in the state, really in America I think in a lot of ways. We’re honored to be here,” he said.
The Georgia National Fair will run until Oct. 18. For more information visit their website.
