County Manager Vacates Position
“We would love for him to change his mind.”
“We would love for him to change his mind.”
That was the sentiment expressed by Harris County Commission Chair Susan Andrews over the recent resignation tendered by Clark Harrell, who has served as County Manager for just over a year.
Hired in March 2025, Harrell quickly proved to be an effective administrator and a likeable person, two attributes that are not often found together among those in positions of authority.
Andrews said that Harrell’s resignation had nothing to with his job performance and reported being “very disappointed” in his leaving. During his tenure as Harris County Manager, Harrell had to deal with some challenging issues. His decision to resign from the position is apparently personal and family related.
Harrell’s job performance has been such that he remains working during his contractual 60-day notice which ends in July. In many, and perhaps most cases, a resigning county manager is released almost immediately upon tendering a resignation.
Harris County has announced the open position and is in the process of seeking a new county manager.
