The City of Byron, despite the on-and-off showers, celebrated the 39th Peach Festival at North Peach Park. It was a damp day filled with plenty of food and fun for the family.

BYRON, Ga. – Peachy times returned to Byron as they celebrated the 39th Georgia Peach Festival this last Saturday, June 14, at North Peach Park. Despite the on-and-off showers, people lined the paths to look at the various handicrafts and foods.

Similar to Fort Valley’s festival the weekend before, festival attendees were free to walk along the path and browse the many vendors selling goods ranging from shirts, mugs, jewelry, wood crafts, toys, stuffed animals, and much more. There were a variety of food trucks and stalls ranging from lemonade and shaved ice to boiled peanuts and hot dogs. Local peach farmers had stalls set up to sell some of the leftover crops.

While it was a shorter festival, taking place for only one day, there was plenty to do. There were multiple live performances including Ken Trimmins and the Quiet Storm ft Sherri Wilder, Comedy Hypnotist Gary Conrad, and Midnite Cruzer. The evening ended with a fireworks show.

In addition to the shops, there was a small train ride. The Byron Fire Department had a stall as well as an inflatable house for children to enjoy. The Shepeard Community Blood Center was hosting a blood drive, more information can be found on their website at www.shepeardblood.org.
