Peachy Times in Byron at the 38th Georgia Peach Festival
The 38th Georgia Peach Festival continues in Byron; complete with shopping, good food, live music, monster truck rides, and helicopter rides.
BYRON, Ga. – It was time for the Peach Festival in Byron and the community was ready. So much so, that the North Peach Park parking lot couldn’t hold all of those wanting to partake in the festivities. The 38th Georgia Peach Festival continued in Byron, this last Saturday, June 9, at North Peach Park.
Similar to Fort Valley’s festival, families are free to walk along the path and browse the many vendors selling goods ranging from shirts, mugs, jewelry, wood crafts, toys, stuffed animals, and much more. There were a plethora of food trucks and stalls ranging from lemonade and shaved ice to boiled peanuts and hot dogs. There was plenty to choose from throughout the day. Local peach farmers had stalls set up to not only sell some of this year’s crop but also to sell their other goods ranging from jams and ciders to baked goods and paraphernalia.
While it was a shorter festival, taking place for only one day, there was plenty to do. There were multiple bands performing live including The Lotus Band, which includes Peach County Superintendent, Dr. Lionel Brown. Also taking the stage later in the afternoon were Boys In The Band.
In addition to the shops, there was a monster truck ride and a helicopter ride available. The Byron Fire Department had an inflatable house for children to enjoy. A large bubble station had been set up for younger children, giving them a way to beat the heat. The Shepeard Community Blood Center was hosting a blood drive, more information can be found on their website at www.shepeardblood.org.
