Houston County

Houston County (3-3, 1-1 Region 2-6A) is headed on the road for the third time this season after last week’s 43-3 loss to Thomas County Central.

This time they’ll head down to Douglas to take on Coffee for the 15th all-time matchup.

The Trojans currently lead the series 10-4, although the teams are 2-2 in the last four matchups. HoCo head coach Jeremy Edwards is 1-1 against Coffee after last year’s 45-21 victory.

As usual, the Trojans boast a formidable rushing offense. Through six games they have a total of 1,606 rushing yards to 301 yards through the air. Quarterback Tyler Dowling has only thrown 33 pass attempts all season.

Junior Bobby Reynolds leads the team with 110 carries for 621 yards (5.6 yards per carry) and has four touchdowns. Dowling is dangerous with his legs, too, with 281 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore Xavien Littleton leads the team in touchdowns, however, with 14. He also has 55 carries for 401 yards (7.3 YPC).

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Douglas.

Perry

Perry (3-4, 2-1 Region 2-5A) is on their second bye week after last week’s 45-20 win against Jones County. Their next game is at home against Union Grove on Oct. 23.

Veterans

Veterans (4-3, 1-2 Region 2-6A) is taking their final bye week as they enter the final stretch of the season following a 49-0 loss to Lee County last week. Their next game is “away” against Houston County on Oct. 23.

Warner Robins

Warner Robins (5-2, 3-0 Region 2-5A) is on their final week of back-to-back byes before returning to the toughest part of their region schedule. Their next game is at home against Ola on Oct. 23.

Westfield

Westfield’s (4-3, 1-0 GIAA District 3-3A) final bye week is behind them and they’re headed back on the road, looking for their first victory away from the Hornets’ Nest.

The Hornets got back on track with 35-15 victory over Tiftarea Academy before the bye week, and now they’ll take on Central Fellowship Christian Academy on Friday. The Panthers beat the Lancers 41-0 last week.

CFCA enters the matchup winless, and they’ve allowed 40 or more points in every game except for their season opener, a 33-14 loss to Mount de Sales.

Westfield has never lost to the Lancers in the six all-time contests. The last game was in 2018, and before then the teams played annually from 2001 to 2005.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
