Two shot, hospitalized following home invasion
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — At 4:26 p.m. on Wednesday, Warner Robins Police received a 911 call in reference to shots fired in the Kevin Court area. When police arrived at 114 Kevin Court, they found 19-year-old Kevin Latimore of Warner Robins injured with a gunshot wound to the chest. Upon further investigation, police discovered the wound had taken place during a home invasion.
Within 30 minutes, another individual, a 16-year-old unnamed Black male arrived by private vehicle at Atrium Navicent Health in Peach County for a gunshot wound. According to Lt. Eric Gossman, this juvenile is being investigated as the aggressor of the home invasion.
“[The narrative] is still being investigated,” Gossman said. “The initial investigation lends that it was somebody trying to rob somebody that is busy in the drug trade. That location led them to believe there was somebody there they needed to rob.”
Gossman said that it is currently believed the initial intent of this incident was a robbery, not the violence that ensued. At the time of his interview, Gossman could not identify if either party involved were the person “busy in the drug trade.”
When first responders found Latimore wounded, he was transported to Atrium Navicent Health in Macon. The juvenile was transported to the same hospital shortly after they arrived at Atrium Navicent Peach.
Two handguns were found on the scene; however, it is currently unclear who owns these weapons, whether both were the aggressor’s or the victim’s, or if each individual owned one.
According to Lt. Eric Gossman, as of print time Friday, the current condition of both Latimore and the juvenile is unknown.
This is an ongoing investigation by the Warner Robins Police Department. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Det. M. Brankley by phone at (478) 302-5380, or by email at mbrankley@wrga.gov.
