Locals Collect Donations for South Georgia Firefighters

Local organizations and community members recently joined together to support firefighters battling wildfires in South Georgia through a coordinated donation drive that provided essential supplies to frontline first responders.
Volunteer firefighters with Meriwether County Fire Rescue made two trips delivering donated supplies to the McRae-Helena Fire Department, where the items will be distributed to firefighters serving in Brantley and Clinch counties.
Donated items included water, sports drinks, snacks, eye drops, sunscreen, bug spray, and other necessities to help support crews working long hours in challenging conditions.
Organizers expressed appreciation to the community for supporting the effort and helping provide two truckloads of supplies for firefighters on the front lines.
Special thanks were extended to Manchester Fire Chief Ben Williams, Manchester Fire Department, Manchester Woman’s Club, and the Rotary Club of Meriwether County for helping organize the collection and delivery efforts.
Additional thanks were given to McRae-Helena Fire Chief Greg Young, Telfair County Sheriff Sim Davidson, and their teams for assisting with coordination and distribution of the supplies.
The donation drive highlighted the continued partnership between local organizations, first responders, and community members working together to support firefighters protecting communities across South Georgia.
