Firm ranks ‘most affordable places’

Warner Robins is ranked fifth and Centerville seventh in a list of the top 10 most affordable places to live in Georgia.

According to Smartasset, a company that provides financial assistance for anything from buying a home, refinancing, retirement, etc, the average costs for closing a home in Warner Robins is $2,388. The annual property tax is $1,049, homeowner’s insurance $559 and average annual mortgage payment $5,512. The median income is listed as $46,250. Its affordability index is 35.35.

Centerville, according to Smartasset, averages $2,981 in closing costs, $1,377 in property tax, $734 for homeowner’s insurance with an annual payment on average of $7,234. The median income is listed as $59,671. Its affordability index is 34.79.

Locust Grove is top of the list with $2,318 average closing costs, $1,248 property tax, $539 homeowner’s insurance, $5,277 mortgage payment and $57,143 median income. Its affordability index is 45.30.

Morrow is second on the list followed by Auburn and Powder Springs. Evans is sixth, Conley eighth, Pooler ninth and Richmond Hill 10th. Perry’s numbers were not recorded.

The state’s average closing costs are $3,301. Its annual property tax is $1,440, homeowner’s insurance $782, annual mortgage payment $7,653 and media income $49,604.
