Coldwell Banker Robbins and Free Realty Bringing the past, present and future together
Coldwell Banker Robbins and Free Realty returned to Perry this past spring at their original office located on 1101 Washington Street. When the business returned, naturally, the staff discussed how to use their newly remodeled building. One idea came about after enjoying an afternoon on their front porch.
“In March of this year, the business started Front Porch Fridays,” said Ricki Free, administrator and instructor of the Donald E. Free School for Coldwell Banker Robbins and Free Realty.
“Front Porch Fridays is designed to bring the past, present and future together in one total package,” said Free. “In the past, families and friends would enjoy spending time visiting on front porches in the lazy afternoons. Sitting in a swing or a chair, neighborhoods would enjoy coming together as one. Families would spend more time together and friends would reunite with one another.”
He said the idea also started to come together right around the same time the city of Perry adopted its new brand, “Perry, where Georgia comes together.”
“Our business wants to bring that ideal back to the Perry area,” said Free. “Just ‘down home’ comfort and hospitality. That, along with today’s technology and networking options, will give everyone an opportunity to enjoy some real ‘face time’ and promote a kindred spirit within the community. This will also promote future possibilities and advancements for the area.”
Free said the mission of Front Porch Friday’s is not only to reach out to the community on a consistent basis through fellowship and networking, but it is also with the goal to give back to local charities.
“At the November Front Porch Friday event, we collected canned goods to donate to the local food bank, Loaves and Fishes,” said Free. “For our December event, we will be collecting toys to donate to Kids Yule Love organization. We have had a great response and can’t wait to continue into the new year.”
Front Porch Fridays are held once a month from 5-7 p.m. If anyone is interested in participating or receiving a schedule of the planned events, call the Perry office at (478) 987-0763.
