WR creates assistant police chief position
The Warner Robins council chambers were filled with
Christmas spirit Monday as the Lake Joy Elementary Chorus sang Christmas carols
for those gathered.
Once down to business, the council unanimously approved an
ordinance that accepts suggested changes to the payroll study that was put in
place earlier this year. The ordinance came after The Carl Vinson Institute
made the suggestions in response to 26 city employee appeals.
The biggest change was the creation of an assistant police
chief position. That change was a result of an appeal filed by Maj. John
Wagner. Wagner noted that he had taken on the responsibilities of two majors
after Maj. Harry Dennard retired and the second major position was abolished.
Wagner was promoted Monday, but didn’t receive a pay increase.
However, his pay grade was changed to allow for future raises.
Police Chief Brett Evans assured council that he doesn’t
have plans to create or ask for a position.
The council also voted to add two part-time clerk positions
for the Convention & Visitors’ Bureau and the city attorney’s office.
